The deep experience and skilled team at Access will serve the interests of the various funds managed by SCM.  The Access team has experience in developing over 200 projects in 40 states and the entire Access team is focused on the success of the assets purchased through the SCM funds.

 The Access Team has expertise in site selection, project analysis, due diligence exploration, construction management, tenant relationships and much more.



Darren began his career in commercial real estate with The Dial Companies two days after he graduated from college in 2004.  In May of 2009, Darren and Kirk Hanson formed ACCESS Commercial, LLC to provide focused development and brokerage services to select clients.  In early 2010, ACCESS formed a third-party store development service platform which contracted with expanding tenants to drive their site selection and construction projects.  

By equipping a talented team with proven systems and processes, ACCESS now boasts over 300 successfully completed projects across 40 states.  The market knowledge across this geographical footprint, combined with brokerage, design, and contractor relationships in each region has become a key driver of development and investment opportunities for ACCESS and its affiliates.  In addition to day-to-day functions, Darren leads the development and investment team at ACCESS and acts as managing member and/or project developer on behalf of affiliated partnerships.  

Darren is a longtime member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Urban Land Institute.  He is a graduate of the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona with a degree in Business Economics.


Curtis Leick is the Senior Financial Analyst for Sower Capital Management. Curtis has extensive experience in investment analysis, underwriting, and due diligence. He works closely with senior management to evaluate new commercial real estate investment opportunities, perform due diligence support, and analyze the performance of current investments.

Curtis holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Economics and a minor in Accounting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is also a CFA Level Three candidate.


Kirk is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Sower Capital Management, LLC. Kirk thrives on creating lasting relationships with a wide range of business professionals, while adding value to all parties desired outcomes.

Early in his career Kirk focused on leasing and developing shopping centers with The Dial Companies. While leasing and developing multiple retail projects throughout the Midwest, a substantial amount of tenant and market expertise was earned. With this experience, he and co-founder Darren Hicks created ACCESS Commercial, LLC in 2009.

Kirk holds a Bachelor Degree in Finance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is a licensed broker in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and North Dakota.  He is a long-time member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO).


While an asset may perform today, the true test of the sound real estate asset is the performance over the long term.  It is the desire of SCM to acquire and manage assets that will be strong candidates for 2nd and 3rd generation development and management.  With this as a “top of mind” consideration in all potential projects, the future performance is always our focus.  

Throughout his entrepreneurial career he has always found value in real estate related assets and fully realized that value through proper planning for the best possible outcome.

Over his career, Jared has been involved with the purchase and disposition of over 3,000 properties of various asset classes.Jared attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, graduating in 2002 with a degree in Construction Management.

Jared and his wife Kim reside in Springfield, NE with their four young children.
